Kylo Ren answered only to the head of the first order himself, Supreme Leader Snoke. When Snoke summoned his apprentice, he questioned his devotion to the dark side, citing specifically the return of Han Solo. Kylo Ren proclaimed he will do what it takes to proof himself to his master.
